Abstract

Constipation is becoming more and more acknowledged as a new pediatric health problem among children since it affects their quality of life and puts a strain on healthcare systems globally. It is one of the most common gastrointestinal problems that causes of stomachaches in children. Constipation in children has become equally prevalent among developing and developed countries, making it a global health problem that needs to be addressed soon. In this issue, Hadyait et al. (2024) report the incidence of constipation in children. The majority of cases were reported in children aged 1 to 5 years. The management of constipation is difficult because of its complex pathophysiological nature. Misdiagnosis and poor treatment of constipation can lead to chronicity that can last into adulthood. It also results in mental, psychological, and emotional discomfort and concern for children and their families.
